Introduction: I have the dubious distinction of working with a host of various types of right-wing radicals. Indeed, some of the conversations I have with them are both sickening and enlightening. By "enlightening", I mean that the true beliefs of these ideologues come to the fore. There is little cover-up and little mincing of words. With that said, I think it is time that I share these conversations with the world. This is the seventh installment of "Conversations with Conservatives". For the first four installments, go here. For the fifth one go here and for the sixth one, go here. The world should see how these people think and understand their unconcealed motives, objectives and attitudes.
In this installment of "Conversations with Conservatives”, I was taken aback by an act so despicable and disgusting that even after years of conservative desensitization, I still couldn't believe what I was hearing.
First a little background:
Several days ago, Rachel Corrie, a 23 year old American peace activist, from Olympia, Washington, was killed when she ran in front of a bulldozer to try to prevent it from destroying a house. The driver of the bulldozer murdered her by covering her with sand, which caused skull and chest fractures and ultimately death. Greg Schnabel, another activist from Chicago, said the house was full of protesters and "Rachel was alone in front of the house as we were trying to get them to stop,' he said. 'She waved for the bulldozer to stop. She fell down and the bulldozer kept going. We yelled 'stop, stop,' and the bulldozer didn't stop at all. It had completely run over her and then it reversed and ran back over her.'
In addition, you might be familiar with a website by the name of Free Republic.com. It is a right-wing hate-mongering atrocity that attracts wingers in droves. One of it's claims to fame is a voluminous message board with over 60,000 registered contributors.
With that in mind, let's proceed:
The conversation began when a colleague of mine pointed out a picture of a young girl on his computer screen (freerepublic.com):
Conservative Pig: Hey look. It's that girl who tried to benchpress a bulldozer. (laughs).
Me: (not understanding exactly what he was babbling about at first) Is that that activist girl?…The one who was murdered?
Conservative Pig: (with a sarcastic smirk) What's she doing in front of a bulldozer anyway?
Me: The driver was trying to destroy a house full of people and she was trying to stop him. He ran over her, and then ran back over her and then buried her in sand. The guy should be executed (Sorry to those of you who are against the death penalty).
Conservative Pig: (laughs, pointing to another picture of her) There she is burning the American flag.
Me: You know, I've heard some despicable things out of your guys (referring to all…yes all…of my conservative colleagues) mouths, but this is below the low.
Conservative Pig: (Giggles)
End of conversation
Of course there are rules in place to make society peaceful and orderly. It is because of these rules (and they almost didn't work) that I did not decapitate this insufficient excuse of a human being with my very solid right hook.
And, In case you think my disgusting coworkers are the only conservative pigs of this degree, maybe you should check out freerepublic.com for yourself. Better yet, sign up to input messages and give them a piece of reality.
For your reading disgust, let's take a look at some of the trash that the proud members of freerepublic.com post. The following is a sampling from comments regarding the murder of Rachel Corrie.
~ "Just fold her up, slide her in an envelope and send her book rate back home."
~ "Another commie/socialist movement reaffirms the credo "the end justifies the means". They probably shoved her in front of the dozer to make headlines."
~ "This gal's writing style is a little flat."
~ "*chuckle*"
~ "That is just so wrong... ROFLMAO" (FYI: ROFLMAO is a variation on ROFLOL which means Roll On the Floor, Laugh Out Loud)
Now, who said Republicans are insensitive?
Nevertheless, if it wasn't clear before, it is crystal clear now. If you don't agree with Republicans, then, to them, the loss of your life is cause for celebration. It was true when Paul Wellstone was murdered. It was true when they thought Ted Kennedy was on the plane with Wellstone and it is true now when a young lady is brutally murdered.
