(Note: This
tactic is still in "outline" phase. More to come on this subject.)
Technique: Call
your opponent's on the tactics they use. Point out that they are "Wagging
the Dog", taking quotes out of context, getting their foot in the door
so they can impose more radical and unpopular policy, etc. Also point out
that they are using these tactics in order to "put one over on the public."
Say things like, "They think they can fool us." or "they think we don't
know any better, but we do and we will not let them deceive us!" etc. The
perception that a person is trying to manipulate others is always perceived
negatively and will remain with the person from the point of being accused.
Always call your opponent on the tricks that they attempt to use and make
a big rousing deal out of it. Claim that they are attempting to fool the
public and don't give the common man the credit that he deserves. He can't
put one over on us and he should be ashamed to have even tried. No one
will want to associate with the opponent after being called as a scheister
(spelling?).
