Technique: Blame conservatives first. This is something that must be watched more carefully. It has to do with the label "Blame-America-First-Crowd" created by Right-wingers targeting those to the left of center. Indeed, progressives are the true patriots (Do I have to point to that icon of progressive documents that this country was founded upon? Yes. The Constitution is the prototype for all populist ideology.) e.g. look at this headline from a progressive newsletter: "Rumsfield Thumbs Nose at International Law, Reinforcing America's Shameful Unilateralism"...America is neither shameful nor Unilateral. Indeed, the small minority to whom this refers is the Bush administration and otherwise hard-line conservatives. Now we all know exactly what the writer of the headline means as I'm sure do most others who read the newsletter, but, from a strategic perspective, this is the type of material that Right-wingers use to enhance the stereotype of the left as "Blame-America-First" when what we actually mean is "Blame those who are responsible - Bush and the GOP". Blame conservatives first.
