Technique: Ask your opponent what s/he would do in a given position if they attack your position on the issue. It is often easier to destruct your opponent's arguments than to defend your own arguments. Also, destroying their arguments takes away their credibility and makes their attacks seem dull and possibly unwarranted after all.
