(Note: This
tactic is still in "outline" phase. More to come on this subject.)
Technique: Promote
your message in a multi-pronged attack with all modes of communication:
newspaper, magazines, internet, writings, word-of-mouth, internet, radio
and TV (even public access), speeches, press releases , photo ops, editorials,
books, rumor mill, articles, stumping, events, etc, etc. Be creative. President
Bush made sure that the media “caught” him going to his limo with a copy
of “Bias” in his hand, holding the book so that the title was sure to be
seen (of course no one was fooled into believing that he could actually
read). Encourage the media to show patriotic movies and documentaries in
times of international conflict. Provide jokes to the late night talk shows
that rip into the opposition. This peripheral approach persuades without
most people even realizing that they are being persuaded. There is minimal
resistance to the persuasion.
