Technique: Get the other person to persuade themselves – to role play the victim or the one being attacked. Self persuasion is the most powerful form of persuasion. This can be done by asking a person to role play the position you want defended (Ask them to imagine themselves in a specific scenario. What would they do. What is reasonable? What is desireable?) or by asking them to adopt a particular course of action or stance on the issue. Ask them how they would transmit a persuasive message to others. The resulting message comes from the most credible source…yourself. You can’t help but be committed  to the cause since the ideas are yours. Ex. “Take a minute to imagine how an improved  public school system will benefit your family”
