at Politicalstrategy.us
are a group of concerned citizens outraged by recent events that have threatened
our rights as U.S. Citizens: The theft of the presidency, the stripping
of our rights to privacy and the pandering of the right wing to the wealthiest
1% of Americans at the expense of the other 99%.
PS.us was created
to unify and strengthen the progressive community, (i.e. the majority of
the American population) to encourage an aggressive defense and assault
on all things that continue to threaten our freedom and sensibility, and
to ensure that progressives have a powerful, consistent and clear message
that rivals the propaganda machine of the conservative establishment.
Indeed, the conservative
leadership in this nation is something to behold. They and their minions
of intolerance, greed, ignorance and bigotry speak with one voice. Tom
Delay, Trent Lott, Dick Cheney, Dubya, Ari Fleischer, Karl Rove, Bill O'Reilly,
Bob Novak, Ann Coulter, blah, blah, blah. The beast goes on seemingly forever.
They speak as one. the Bush administration issues its talking points and
the Limbaugh-Scaife-Moonie-Murdoch Media Machine goes to work.
They stand behind
one another with a shocking loyalty to the message. Of course they don't
all agree completely with all the slop that is set in front of them, but
they do realize something that the progressive community in this nation
seems to miss: that in order to successfully promote a shared ideology
the group must target the big picture, sacrificing less important things
to the cause. They know that whatever their candidate can do with their
united support is a million times better for them than what the opponent
will be able to do if they do not remain united.
This is precisely
the reason why Bush is in the White House. The Progressive community in
the U.S. wants it all and they are unwilling to sacrifice the tree for
the forest. Maybe Gore wouldn't have eliminated the death penalty or done
away with corporate interests. The point is that he was our only hope.
Congratulations to
Nader and his 2.5% of the vote. He wanted to send a message to the politicians
and he certainly did. Message: "You republicans will have a much easier
time placing your enviro-destructive, rich-pandering, women-dominating,
minority-oppressing candidates into positions of leadership as long as
I continue to run for office. Congratulations." Now some here agree with
most of what Mr. Nader stands for and that's fine. However, from a strategy
viewpoint, nuances in ideology are not the issue. The question for progressives
should not be, "Does Gore lean more to the left or does Nader". IT DOES
NOT MATTER. Gore was the ONLY candidate from the left that had a chance
of landing in the White House. In addition, some people will argue that
the blame should not be put on Nader and that Gore ran a less than spectacular
campaign and even so received more votes both nationwide and in Florida,
etc., etc. and again, ALL THAT DOES NOT MATTER. These are merely the results
of a fouled-up, non-unified, confused political strategy enacted by those
to the left of center.
Add to that the post-election
legal fiasco along with the criminal efforts of right-wing operatives and
the result is a poser in the White House, an illegitimate felon serving
as a figurehead for his fascist puppetmasters. Follow this with a
wimpy disposition on the side of the Democrats, giving in to the republicans
without outrage, without recourse, knowing fully well that the republicans
were ready to launch a full-scale attack on the Democrats if Gore had won
the electoral college and lost the popular vote.
The point is:
that this entire usurpation of all that is American could have been overridden
had the left developed a unified strategy, one that put our only hope in
office (GORE). Only then could we have begun work to shift some priorities
toward the left. Now we have Bush, the toxic Texan with the bite-me foreign
policy, building up nukes, trashing treaties, sleeping with corporate polluters
and destroying this country's social infrastructure. This is indeed the
last straw.
Ideology vs Practicality
We must stop insisting
that every detail of our ideology dominate our supported platform and focus
on PRACTICALITY. The winner is the one that controls the middle and you
cannot do that with a far-left agenda. That is the only way that the progressive
agenda can overcome the blight of the conservative agenda and restore our
nation's sense of leadership, compassion and sensibility.
Indeed, if those
to the left of center banded together to support their mainstream (Yes.
Mainstream!) candidate, then that candidate would not have to push so far
to the right in order to capture the moderate conservatives and would then
be able to pursue a genuine progressive agenda.
Politicalstrategy.us
exists to stress the practical strategies needed to win in the current
political environment and to use those strategies to promote the progressive
ideology.
