Keywords For Trent Lott: Corporate Interests, Ethics, Freedom of Speech, Honor and Integrity, Hypocrisy, Infidelity, Nepotism, Taxpayers' Money

BACKGROUND: Possibly the most grotesque example of right wing apologists, Trent can't utter a word without coaxing bile to the tip of his tounge.

NICKNAMES: Mississippi Helmet Hair

AMMO

(Hypocrisy)

FACT: George W. Bush recently asked the Senate for billions of dollars to fight his increasingly obscure war on terror. Tom Daschle stated that "I think that it is critical that we keep the pressure on; we do the job that this country is committed to doing. But we are not safe until we have broken the back of al Qaeda, and we haven't done that yet." and that while the war had been so far successful, "the jury is still out on further success." Trent Lott’s ridiculous response was, "How dare Senator Daschle criticize President Bush while we are fighting our war on terrorism, especially when we have troops in the field,'' "He should not be trying to divide our country while we are united.''

COMMENT: Recall Trent’s Arch-hypocritical blabbering during the Clinton Administration,  "I cannot support military action at this time." Or how about this one, “We can support our troops without supporting the president” Or did Tom Delay say that? Is there a difference?

(Nepotism, Corporate Interests) 07/2002

FACT: The son of Senator Lott has been quietly lobbying Congress for over a year, according to Roll Call. Lott Jr. was paid $60,000 by BellSouth for work he did while the telecom company was engaged in a battle over the Tauzin-Dingell bill to deregulate the broadband Internet business. A BellSouth VP deneys that his contact had anything to do with his hiring "I literally didn't think about what was going on in the Senate," said the BellSouth VP. "We didn't hire them because of the familial relationship."

(Taxpayers' Money, Ethics, Freedom of Speech)

FACT: Last week the Senate Minority Leader called for the IRS to audit the NAACP, on the grounds that "They were acting totally as an arm of the Democratic National Committee in a totally vicious, inaccurate television ad."

COMMENT: This was not only a gross violation of any standard of ethics, but also a blatent shot across the bow to all who wish to express their Constitutional right to free speech.

(Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Lott defended Dick Cheney's use of the Vice President's house for a GOP fundraiser despite the criticism he and the rest of the GOP laid on Clinton for allowing contributors to stay the night in the Lincoln Bedroom. When Trent was asked what he thought about Cheney’s misuse of government property, he could only come up with, "I'm sure it's being done in an appropriate way, or Dick Cheney wouldn't do it." Of course he wouldn't do it. He's a Republican.

(Hypocrisy)

FACT: When some right-wing bozo decides to quote Lott regarding Jim Jeffords’ "coup of one", or that Jeffords "trumped the will of the American people." Remind them that the Senate was actually split directly down the middle and that Democrats received the most votes in the white house, both popular (by over ½ million votes) and electoral (If all legally cast votes had been counted, and this does not count all the obvious mis-votes and non-votes as a result of the illegal “felon purge” or the Buchanan votes from the illegally designed butterfly ballots). Site “The Drudge Report” as the source for the electoral vote conclusion since most GOP ninnies only saw the incorrect headlines in the major “Liberal” Media.

(Hypocricy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: Turning to the subject of Gary Condit on FOX News, Trent suggested that "Infidelity is always unacceptable... If these allegations are true, obviously he should resign." Resign? Well, then how about these infidels: Newt Gingrich (Who served divorce papers to his wife while she lying in a hospital bed fighting cancer so that he could marry his long time mistress. Fortunately, he’s already gone. He didn't resign because of his affair though, did he? Rudy Guliani is also gone. Unfortunately we still have such well documented infidels as Henry Hyde, Bob Barr, Dan Burton (Who actually has an illegitimate child) and Tim Hutchinson. I demand their resignation.
