Keywords For Misc (I-M): Bigotry, Church-State Separation, Criminal, Election 2000, Fanaticism, Honor and Integrity, Lack of Leadership, Lies, Party Switching, Stupidity, Taxpayers' Money

BACKGROUND: As you know there are more conservatives committing outrageous acts than the web has space to print. Thus, the wingers below have not yet earned themselves their own page (although I'm sure they're all working diligently toward that goal.) So the least we could do is toss them together in this right-wing grabbag.

NICKNAMES: Right Wingers, Nazis, Fascists, Aristocrats, Fanatics, Zealots

AMMO

Don Imus (Bigotry, Stupidity)

FACT: Imus appeared recently on Larry King Live and did his bit for uneducated racist morons, um, I mean patriots, everywhere. After King asked Imus what he thought about fighting during Ramadan, Imus responded, "They're worried about - we should drop more bombs during this rama-lama-ding-dong or whatever it is... My position is, I mean, I know it sounds awful, but we should kill them all... You're not going to be able to sit down and have some bigelow tea or whatever they drink and reason with them. It's just not going happen. So the next best thing to do is kill them."

David Jaye (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Senator Jaye was arrested and held in a Florida county jail on charges he assaulted his fiancee. Turns out this isn't his first run-in with the law. He has twice served time for drunk driving, and narrowly excaped another conviction after a witness saw him shoving and kicking his fiancee at a Michigan gas station. (The arresting officer forgot to read him his Miranda rights.) So, for the first time in its history, the Michigan State Senate expelled one of its members. Jaye was forced out of the Senate on a 33-2 vote. He insisted, however, that he was being railroaded for his political views. "I've upset the political bosses and the special interests,'' he claimed, dismissing his long record of driving drunk and punching women. At a hearing to determine the fate of Jaye, one of his constituents suggested that "Jaye should be expelled; but if he truly believes in saving the taxpayers’ money, he should resign." Of course, Jaye didn't believe in saving taxpayers money and they had to kick him out

COMMENT: At least Jaye's behavior is consistent with his party’s line, opposing state funding for domestic abuse shelters, arguing that they discriminate by sex. In addition, both Bush and Cheney have been caught driving drunk. So it must be okay!

Jim Jeffords (Party Switching, Hypocrisy)

FACT: Jim took much abuse for his courageous move away from the GOP. "A Coup of one" spouts Trent Lott, Vile Chris "Democrat-my-ass" Mathews presents this 18 year old example, "When Phil Gramm felt he was being pushed around by the Democrats and quit the party, he quit the Congress, went home to the people of Texas that elected him and gave them the decision if they wanted to reelect him as a Republican. He decently gave it back to the voters. This character [Jeffords] says I'm just going to change party label. All you Republicans that voted for me tough stuff. I'm now going to be the independent Democrat voting senator from Vermont and you're fools to have voted for me." It's true. Mouthews conveniently decided to use an 18 year old example of party-switching and not mention the more recent Democratic defectors Richard Shelby and Ben Nighthorse Campbell, who went Republican in 1995 without giving up their seats.

Dirk Kempthorne (Stupidity, Lack of Leadership)

FACT: Idaho residents have renamed the state capital Fort Kempthorne after Governor Dirk Kempthorne recently surrounded it with concrete barriers and other security measures in the wake of September 11. You see, Dirk spent $335,000 on fortifying the capital when the rest of state government is cutting spending in other areas. "I hope the governor feels secure sitting in his fortress while the rest of us are sitting in traffic,'' wrote a Boise resident to The Idaho Statesman. "The office of the governor is not for cowards, something to think about next election."

Ronald C. Kline (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Judge Ronald Kline, who was appointed by California Republican Governor, Pete Wilson in 1995, is running for his seat in Irvine, CA, soon. He also happens to be under house arrest for child molestation and possession of child pornography.

COMMENT: You would think his chances of re-election are slim, unfortunately, he is currently running unopposed. Congratulations GOP.

Karan Kumar (Stupidity, Criminal, Honor anad Integrity)

FACT: The New York Times reported that Kumar, a prominent Republican from Nassau County, NY, had come up with a rather unorthodox solution to a problem which had been troubling him - namely, articles appearing in local magazines accusing him of being involved in criminal activity. Kumar decided to fake his own kidnapping in the hope that his enemies would be investigated. This plan backfired after Kumar was "released" and discovered by police in a local park. Unfortunately for Kumar, he couldn't describe any of his kidnappers. Nor could he explain why they let him go. It was not immediately obvious why he was wearing different clothes to the ones he was kidnapped in. And then of course there was the cab driver who told police that he'd given Mr. Kumar a ride from Queens to the park in which he was found. Karan Kumar was questioned by the police and admitted to the deception, revealing that he'd been staying in a motel in Queens watching TV coverage of his disappearance for two days. He now faces up to two years in jail on two misdemeanor charges of making a "punishable false written statement."

Drew Lewis (Criminal, Stupidity)

FACT: Drew Lewis used to work for Ronald Reagan as Secretary of Transportation. Failing at his job, he was replaced by Elizabeth Dole in 1983. Lewis was arrested for drunk driving after he flipped his Lincoln Navigator while leaving his driveway. Yes, driveway. Lewis proceeded to tell the police officer who responded to the accident that he was "too drunk to get out," according to the Allentown Morning Call. Lewis faces thirty days in jail if convicted. Yeah Right.

COMMENT: As ridiculus as this sounds. It should be taken very seriously. This is a man, a past high level official in a presidential administration, who decides that he should risk the lives of others, understanding full well that he was far to incapacitated to drive. He should be in prison.

Rush Limbaugh and Bill Schneider (Bigotry, Stupidity, Election 2000) 04/2002

FACT: Rush Limbaugh made the tubby-moron hall of fame with such insightful comments as the one about the  2000 election results, "If you take away the black vote, Bush won by a landslide." Not to be outdone, CNN's Bill Schneider explained that, if you don't count black people's votes, Bush would have won by 187 electoral college votes and, if you take away the black vote in the 2000 Senate races, Democrats win only 37 seats instead of 50.

COMMENT: Luckily, we don't live in the "White's only" world of Limbaugh and Schneider. One point that they did leave out however was that Gore won in a shut-out if all racist, misogynist, war-mongering windbags are deleted from the voting equations.

Rich Lowry (Stupidity, Bigotry)

FACT: Editor of National Review Online, Lowry suggested that a good way to win the war on terror would be to nuke Mecca. "Mecca seems extreme, of course, but then again few people would die and it would send a signal," he mused.

Edmund Matricardi III (Criminal, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: The AP reported that the executive director of the Virginia Republican Party, Edmund Matricardi III, allegedly tapped illegally into a telephone call between Democratic Governor Mark Warner, Democratic state legislators and their lawyers as they plotted strategy in a redistricting case. While Matricardi refused comment on the case, one prominent Republican gave his explanation: According to House Speaker S. Vance Wilkins, the most powerful Republican legislator in the state, "operatives play these games all the time."

COMMENT: Obviously, this says something about the Republican practices in the great state of Virginia. Dare we extrapolate nationwide?

Mike McKinney (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Texas Governor Rick Perry's chief of staff, Mike McKinney, went on a rampage with a pair of binoculars at Texas A&M's football stadium after a fight broke out. When Reginald Wallace allegedly attempted to push fans back into the stands during the melee, McKinney hit him with his binoculars - but it was literally "one in the eye" forr McKinney after Wallace proceeded to, um, punch him in the face. McKinney then continued to swing his binoculars "with full force," attempting to hit people on the field. Then, after the fight broke up, he threatened to use his "high governmental position" to get back at local police, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Media (Election 2000, Lies) 11/2001

FACT: After a year of vote counting, the results are finally in. Last night the official results of the Florida recount by the media consortium were released, and like the winner is Al Gore! It doesn't matter whether you count dimpled chads, hanging chads, or cleanly punched chads - if you count every legally-cast vote in the state, Gore is the winner. Period. But if you read any of the coverage of the story in the media, you'd have to look pretty closely to get the facts. The headline on the Washington Post's website was: "Study Shows Recounts Would Have Elected Bush." The New York Times: "George W. Bush would have won even if the Supreme Court had allowed the statewide manual recount that the Florida court had ordered to go forward." And CNN: "Florida recount study: Bush still wins." Surprisingly, only Drudge got the story right: "Big Media Florida Database: Gore Topped Bush if all Under/Over Votes Counted; Legal Strategy Destroyed Chances."

Roy Moore (Religious Fanaticism, Taxpayers’ Money, Church-State Separation)

FACT: The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy Moore, unveiled a new 5,800-pound granite monument to the Ten Commandments in the rotunda of the state Supreme Court. No doubt this was unrelated to a possible upcoming gubernatorial run. He claimed to be fulfilling a campaign pledge to "restore the moral foundation of law."

COMMENT: Let’s all take a deep breath and forget that he used taxpayers money to shred the U. S. Constitution and force his beliefs on the citizenry. Can you say separation of church and state?

Roy Moore (Religious Fanaticism, Bigotry, Separation of Church and State)

FACT: Moore is the State Supreme Court Chief Justice who put a 5,800 monument to the Ten Commandments in the state Supreme Court. Recently, there was a 9-0 state Supreme Court decision to award the custody of three children to their father, rather than their mother because she's a lesbian. This prompted Moore to write in his opinion that the woman would be an unfit parent because homosexuality is "abhorrent, immoral, detestable, a crime against nature, and a violation of the laws of nature," not to mention "an inherent evil." He even quoted scripture to back up his argument! What more "proof" do you need in a court of law?

COMMENT: A look back at Roy's law school transcript shows that he, believe it or not, substituted his requisite constitutional law classess with the more popular cleasses regarding "Laws of nature". Thus, Moore is now widely regarded as an expert on the laws of nature and has even been known to participate in a little "all natural" judicial activism. A conservative no-no, but that's all right, cause it's God's will.
