FANATICISM: Summary

AMMO

John Ashcroft (Bigot, Fanatic)

FACTS:

* Rose to prominence keeping Kansas City public schools segregated.
* Missouri voters in the November 2000 elections chose a dead man (The governor, who was killed in a plane crash just before the election.) over him. Bush rewarded Ashcroft's embarrassing failure to defeat the corpse by making him Attorney General.
* He is one of several Republicans who has supported Southern Partisan, a neo-confederate magazine that runs justifications for slavery and celebrates the assassinations of Lincoln and Martin Luther King; (Note: Timothy McVeigh was wearing a Southern Partisan T-shirt when he blew up the Murrah office building in Oklahoma City.) Birds of a feather.

John Ashcroft (Lies, Hypocrisy, Supporting Terrorism, Fanaticism)

FACT: Following the September 11 attacks, the FBI arrested and detained many suspects of Middle Eastern origin, and in some cases the suspects were denied lawyers and held for weeks before they were interrogated and cleared of suspicion. Planned Parenthood recently received 250 letters in a two week period which contained white powder and the following message: "You have been exposed to anthrax. We are going to kill all of you. Army of God, Virginia DARE Chapter." So far, the white powder in these letters is not anthrax. So far, the FBI hasn't taken action against the Army of God.

COMMENT: This raises the specter of John Ashcroft's confirmation hearing where he promised that he would not shirk his responsibilities when it came to protecting the legal rights (and indeed lives) of abortion clinic workers. Of course he would defend such accusations by stressing the critical need for the DoJ's resources to be focused on fighting the war on terrorism and raiding state-run clinics that care for the terminally ill. You know, the important stuff.

Oliver North (Religious Fanatic, Stupidity)

FACT: Oliver North appeared at Anaheim’s Melodyland Christian Center Church recently to dutifully explain why radical Muslims hate America. Hint: It's not because of our freedom, or wealth or even because we want their oil. Nope. It's because they "know what the scripture tells us, which is that the only path to God in heaven is through his son, our savior, Jesus Christ." According to the OC Weekly, North continued, "not all Muslims are evil or hate America." It's just that they won't be going to heaven. So, in case you missed that, not all Muslims are evil, but they won't be going to heaven, and that's why they hate us. They may not be evil but I bet I know someone who is..

COMMENT: This (lack of) thinking fits well with the loving words of our current White House resident who personally condemned all Jews to Hell. Good to see Ollie stickin' to the party line.

Roy Moore (Religious Fanatic, Taxpayers’ Money, Separation of Church and State)

FACT: The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy Moore, unveiled a new 5,800-pound granite monument to the Ten Commandments in the rotunda of the state Supreme Court. No doubt this was unrelated to a possible upcoming gubernatorial run. He claimed to be fulfilling a campaign pledge to "restore the moral foundation of law."

COMMENT: Let’s all take a deep breath and forget that he used taxpayers money to shred the U. S. Constitution and force his beliefs on the citizenry. Can you say separation of church and state?

Roy Moore (Religious Fanatic, Bigotry, Separation of Church and State)

FACT: Moore is the State Supreme Court Chief Justice who put a 5,800 monument to the Ten Commandments in the state Supreme Court. Recently, there was a 9-0 state Supreme Court decision to award the custody of three children to their father, rather than their mother because she's a lesbian. This prompted Moore to write in his opinion that the woman would be an unfit parent because homosexuality is "abhorrent, immoral, detestable, a crime against nature, and a violation of the laws of nature," not to mention "an inherent evil." He even quoted scripture to back up his argument! What more "proof" do you need in a court of law?

COMMENT: A look back at Roy's law school transcript shows that he, believe it or not, substituted his requisite constitutional law classess with the more popular cleasses regarding "Laws of nature". Thus, Moore is now widely regarded as an expert on the laws of nature and has even been known to participate in a little "all natural" judicial activism. A conservative no-no, but that's all right, cause it's God's will.
