HONOR AND INTEGRITY: Summary

AMMO

Bob Barr (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: It is well known that Barr cheated on his wife. Recall that Barr was a leader in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity.

Dan Burton (Honor and Dignity)

FACT: Number of illegitimate children - 1. Number of female "staffers" he has had on federal payroll who didn't actually do any work - 2.

Dan Burton (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: It is well known that Burton, not only cheated on his wife, but has an illegitimate child as well. Recall that Burton was a leader in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity.

Jeb Bush (Hypocrisy, Honor and Dignity)

FACT: "To suggest there should be no penalties for continued drug use is to stick our heads in the sand," pontificated Governor Jeb Bush back in August last year. Bush was at a luncheon honoring the 30th anniversary of the Center for Drug Free Living, and was trying to explain why Florida judges should not be forced to grant treatment or rehabilitation to non-violent first- or second-time drug offenders. "Prevention is the key to reducing drug abuse in our state," Bush said. "Preventing the illegal use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco among our young people now will save us a myriad of costs later - social, economic and, of course, human."" Then, his daughter, Noelle, was arrested for illegally attempting to obtain the prescription drug Xanax. Now, according to Leon County State Attorney William Meggs, fraudulently obtaining a prescription is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. But Meggs went on to say, "The most likely course in this case is probation or drug court," And apparently, if she goes to drug court, "she most likely would be placed in a rehabilitation program or in counseling with drug testing."

COMMENT: Note, that this is the complete opposite of what her Dad has been advocating. Seems Jeb just wants to put other people's kids in prison for non-violent drug offences.

Bush Administration (Honor and Integrity, Illegal Contributions, Special Interests)

FACT: Recently, news broke of a secret NT$3.5 billion slush fund which was used to buy favors for Taiwan in Washington, DC, and elsewhere around the world. Leaked documents indicate that two Bush Administration officials received payments from the slush fund before they were tapped to join the administration. One official, Carl Ford, is now the assistant secretary of defense for intelligence and research, and the other, James Kelly is the assistant secretary of state of East Asia. Online Journal reports that Carl Ford was responsible for millions of dollars donated to the Bush campaign and the RNC.

COMMENT: This raises questions of possible indirect foreign campaign contributions, something that the GOP tried to pin on Al Gore. We'll see how much face time these illegal Chinese campaign contributions receive.

George W. Bush: The Secret Service (Honor and Integrity, Tax Payers Money)

FACT: After the recent TCU booze-up, Jenna Bush's "boyfriend" William Ashe Bridges (Nash to his friends) was thrown in jail for public intoxication. Four hours later, Secret Service agents showed up in a black Chevy Suburban, bailed him out, and give him a ride home.

COMMENT: That's our tax dollars at work to support the Bushes and their drunken friends

George W. Bush (Lies, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Bush's attempt to protect his daughters by trying to bury his DUI conviction failed after Jenna Bush was caught on camera during a student binge-fest.

Bush (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: The peace was shattered for Washington D.C. residents when the Bush administration decided to finish up their first state dinner with a rather loud fireworks display - without notifying their neighbors. A spokesperson apologized the following day, claiming that "the White House tries to respect the area's residents and their concerns." The real zinger is the fact that the display cost taxpayers nearly $200,000.

Dick Cheney (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Lies)

FACT: In a dramatic departure from the unacceptable practices of the prior adminisstration, VP Cheney has banned fundraisers at the VP's Mansion. Instead, the VP will throw "thank you" parties in the VP's mansion for people who've previously made contributions to Bush/Cheney? See. A complete departure.

Dick Cheney (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Despite vast criticism of the Clinton administration for having Coffee with contributors at the white house and allowing some to stay over night in the Lincoln bedroom, Cheney and the Bush administration took the whole fundraising thing to a new level, actually throwing a fundraiser in the VP’s mansion (The White House claimed that it was not a fundraiser, they were just having a party in which past contributors were invited. (Oh! Of course. How could I have been so foolish.) In addition, the administration has created special access for contributors to high-level administration officials including the Vice President himself.

Newt Gingrich (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: Newt served divorce papers to his wife while she lying in a hospital bed fighting cancer so that he could marry his long time mistress. Fortunately, he’s already gone. Recall that Newt was a leader in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity.

Newt Gingrich (Honor and Dignity, Hypocrisy, Despicable behavior)

FACT: While filling in for Rush Limbaugh, Tony Snow quoted Newt as saying: "The attacks of September 11th may not have happened if the Clinton Administration had not been so pathetically weak and unable to focus."

COMMENT: First, charge that Clinton was somehow responsible for the 911 attacks while overlooking the blatant facilitation of the attacks by the Bush administration (ordering US agencies to hold back on investigations of the Bin Laden Family, Threatening the Taliban with a "carpet of bombs" if they don't accept the "Carpet of gold" in exchange for their oil, Ignoring vast amounts of intelligence and warnings regarding the imminent attacks, etc.) is absolutely outrageous. The secondary charge (distraction) is equally outrageous, that Clinton was weak and without focus (The Clinton administration formed a bipartisan commission to suggest proactive protections from terrorism. Their suggestions were boldly ignored by the Bush administration. Clinton proposed legislation to federalize airport security. The GOP crushed that proposal. The GOP accused Clinton of wagging the dog when he assaulted the al-queda outposts in Afghanistan, narrowly missing Bin Laden, instead of taking the threat seriously.) Indeed Clinton was both focused and strong. The terrorists were not able to perpetrate the atrocities of 911 until the ideologues of the Bush administration changed the focus of the white house to repaying the many corporate interests that keep the GOP afloat (and lets' not forget the int4ense focus of AG John Ashcroft, who spent all of his time usurping state's rights by raiding "Cannabis clubs" and "Assisted suicide centers" for the terminally ill.

Newt Gingrich (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Newt "Infidel" Gingrich was having sex with a member of his congressional staff. He then decided to serve divorce papers to his wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.

Dennis Hastert (Honor and Integrity)

FACT: His son was arrested for drunk driving.

COMMENT: Note to those who think this is irrelevant, Denny and the right-wingers would never hesitate to jump start a "Moral Outrage" campaign if any member of the Democratic leadership's families were part of a similar situation. This information can be used as a reminder to right-wingers that it is dangerous to cast the first stone. Perhaps they will see the hypocrisy…but, probably not.

Trent Lott (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Lott defended Dick Cheney's use of the Vice President's house for a GOP fundraiser despite the criticism he and the rest of the GOP laid on Clinton for allowing contributors to stay the night in the Lincoln Bedroom. When Trent was asked what he thought about Cheney’s misuse of government property, he could only come up with, "I'm sure it's being done in an appropriate way, or Dick Cheney wouldn't do it." Of course he wouldn't do it. He's a Republican.

Trent Lott (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: Turning to the delicate subject of Gary Condit on FOX News last week, Trent suggested that "Infidelity is always unacceptable... If these allegations are true, obviously he should resign." Resign? Resign? Are you serious? Well, then how about these noteworthy infidels: Newt Gingrich (Who served divorce papers to his wife while she lying in a hospital bed fighting cancer so that he could marry his long time mistress. Fortunately, he’s already gone. He didn't resign because of his affair though, did he? Rudy Guliani is also gone. Unfortunately we still have such well-documented infidels as Henry Hyde, Bob Barr, Dan Burton (Who actually has an illegitimate child) and Tim Hutchinson (see below). And we know the world would be a much better place without them.

Paul O'Neill (Lack of Leadership, Honor and dignity)

FACT: Senator Robert Byrd spent 15 minutes haranguing O'Neill over his new budget document. According to the Washington Post, "O'Neill, 66, paused about 20 seconds before answering, his eyes appearing to glisten. His voice cracked. He took deep breaths between sentences, repeatedly clenching his hands, seemingly trying to collect his thoughts and hold his temper. Afterwards, when O'Neill was asked if there were tears in his eyes, he replied, "That was fire."

Harvey Pitt (Honor and Dignity)

FACT: It was revealed that George W. Bush's pick for chief of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Harvey Pitt, was hired by New Frontier Media back in 1999 to help the firm keep its NASDAQ listing. Pitt obviously did a good job - the company is indeed still out there exploiting the "New Frontier" by distributing teen sex videos and other "adult entertainment" online. New Frontier Media's website reveals that their growth strategy revolves around "key opportunities" and "strategic partnerships."

Republicans (Honor and Dignity, Despicable Behavior)

FACT: Fort Wayne News-Sentinel reported that various GOP organizations are returning $38,000 that they strong-armed out of an 82-year-old lady with dementia, after her family discovered she had no recollection of sending money to the groups. The woman responded to a direct mailing, and once the groups realized that they'd gotten a "live one" - someone who would donate money - they upped the mailings until she was reeceiving "dozens of letters a week." For six months the College Republican National Committee, Republican Strategy Headquarters and other GOP groups bombarded the woman with scaremongering letters which were addressed to her by name and said things like, "Rush me back $300 right now... if we delay then the Rule of Law may be dead and America may turn into a Communist police state." Obviously terrified, she wrote dozens of checks.

Republicans (Honor and Integrity, Criminal, Child molesters)

FACT: Here is a quick list of those conservatives bringing Honor and Integrity back to the good old USA. 1) Republican activist Randy Ankeney 2) Radio Personality "Republican Marty" 3) ”Republican of the Year" Mark A. Grethen and 4) Mayor Philip Giordano. Besides being staunch Republicans, can you guess what these gentlemen have in common? Yup. They’re all child molesters.

Thomas E. White (Taxpayer's Money, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Army Secretary Thomas "Enron" White is a public servant, so why shouldn't he spend the public's money on things like flying across the country to close on the sale of his house? Indeed the multi-millionaire Army Secretary used an army jet to fly to Aspen, Colorado, and sell his $6.5 million, three-story house all on the taxpayers' dime.

George Argyros (Aristocracy, Punish the impoverished/Citizenry, Criminal, Honor an Integrity)

FACT: George Argyros, a Newport Beach billionaire who is the Bush2 administration's pick for ambassador to Spain owns nearly 5,000 apartments in Orange County, CA, which he rents to poor and middle-class tenants. A recent OC Weekly investigation discovered that he "rewarded employees with bonuses for illegally withholding security deposits, overcharging tenants for apartment repairs and billing tenants for imaginary expenses," not to mention "reprimanded employees when they did not defraud tenants," and let's not forget how he "angrily complained to top managers on at least two occasions that they were not sufficiently padding tenant charges."

COMMENT: the $50 million that Argyros raised for Bush's presidential campaign heavily overshadowed Argyros's lack of qualifications for an ambassadorial role.

Chris Carman (Election 2000, Criminal, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Carman, who resigned as a member of Manatee County's Republican Executive Committee in January, faces felony charges for voter fraud after casting two votes for George W. Bush in last year's election. After intercepting an absentee ballot mailed to his roommate Blair Hanner, Carman cast a vote for Bush, forged Hanner's signature, and mailed it in. When Hanner showed up to vote at the polls, Carman was exposed. In his defense he said, "I made a boo-boo."

Jeannemarie Devolites (Honor and Dignity)

FACT: It was reported by the Washington Post that the daughter of Virginia Delegate Jeannemarie Devolites (R-Fairfax) was sentenced to "more than nine years in federal prison for her role in a gas-station robbery in Fairfax City that authorities said was one of a string of armed holdups in Virginia and New York last summer."

Tom Feeney (Honor and Integrity) 2001

FACT: Florida House Speaker Tom Feeney called a news conference to defend one of his top legislative aides against questions about her job. It seems that the 27-year-old policy staffer, Bridgette A. Gregory no college degree, no technical experience for her job, and used to work as a waitress at Hooters. She is paid $55,664 per year. She can't spell, including, in some cases, her own name. Her work duties have nothing to do with her job description. Oh yes, and she's apparently been working on Feeney's congressional campaign from his Capitol office, which is illegal.

John Fund (Hypocrisy, Sleaze, Honor and Integrity) 2002

FACT: John Fund, the ultraconservative, militant, anti-choice, hate-monger who endlessly attacked Bill Clinton for his lack of morals, had first encouraged his pregnant ex-girlfriend to get an abortion and now has been arrested and charged with assault. Fund had a fight with his aforementioned ex-girlfriend, Morgan Pillsbury, which resulted in a physical injury for Morgan and an arrest for Fund.
COMMENT: Just a side note: Fund is 20 years older than Morgan and he used to be her baby sitter while he was dating her mother. Honor and Dignity, conservative style.

Philip Giordano (Honor and Integrity, Criminal, Hypocrisy)

FACT: According to the Hartford Courant, Republican Mayor Philip Giordano of Waterbury, CT, was arrested by the FBI for "using an interstate facility to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, and conspiracy to use an interstate facility to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity." Giordano is being held without bail and faces up to ten years in prison.

Philip Giordano (Despicable Behavior, Criminal, Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity)

FACT: Philip Giordano, the Mayor of Waterbury, CT, was arrested on federal charges of child sex abuse. It turns out that Giordano had an "inappropriate relationship" with two girls, aged 9 and 10. That's the sick and disgusting part - now for the arch hypocrisy. Philip Giordano ran against Joe Lieberman for Senate last year, and it was reported last week that during the campaign, Giordano blasted Lieberman for failing to "protect children from pedophiles."

Mark A. Grethen- (Honor and Integrity, Criminal, Child Molestation)

FACT: Thanks to his commitment to the conservative agenda, and his impressive history of financial support for GOP candidates and the National Republican Campaign Committee, Mr. Grethen was named "Republican of the Year" and was invited to Washington, D.C., by none other than U.S. Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia. But it turns out that the Republican Party wasn't Grethen's only obsession. He's also likes molesting kids, and has a 26-year prison sentence to show for it.

Rudy Guliani (Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)

FACT: Rudy was perhaps the most classless infidel in recent memory, publicly maligning his wife while flaunting his mistress. A Truly classless individual! Recall that Rudy was an outspoken critic in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity.
