HONOR
AND INTEGRITY:
Summary
AMMO
Chris Hill (Honor
and Integrity)
FACT:
The National Republican Congressional Committee first they gave their coveted
Republican of the Year award to convicted child molester Mark A. Grethen
and now it turns out that one of the men who may replace Mr. Grethen is
Chris Hill of Sarasota, FL, who ran one of the fastest-growing businesses
of 1999, according to Inc Magazine. The problem is that Mr. Hill's business
is making bongs. He's facing up to 20 years in prison after being charged
by federal prosecutors in Iowa with distributing drug paraphernalia. However,
his pipes are only illegal if vendors know that people who buy them will
use them to smoke drugs.
COMMENT:
Does anyone anywhere know of someone that actually uses bongs and/or pipes
(not the kind Grandpa used) to smoke regular, (albeit addictive and destructive
in its own right) tobacco? So where can the GOP possibly find a Republican
of the Year that is not into child sex or drugs? This is indeed the cream
of the conservative crop.
Karen Hughes -
(Hypocrisy, Honor and Dignity)
FACT:
USA Today reported that the White House overnight list was free from big
campaign contributors. Bush is "keeping his promise," she said by keeping
his contributors out of the Lincoln Bedroom. It is now known, however,
that indeed Bush has had at least his top 6 donors overnight. Even worse,
Bush:
1) gave them a huge tax cut
2) Let them crush Japanese students while
piloting a US nuclear submarines
3) Installed them in cushy ambassadorships
4) Told us we would have to spend our
fake tax “rebates” on their overpriced fuel, and
5) Let them trash the environment for
their profit.
Tim Hutchinson
(Hypocrisy, Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)
FACT:
It is well-known that Tim cheated on his wife. Recall that Hutchinson was
a leader in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity.
Henry Hyde (Hypocricy,
Honor and Integrity, Infidelity)
FACT:
It is well-known that Hyde cheated on his wife. Recall that Hyde was a
leader in the campaign against Clinton’s own infidelity. Shockingly, there
were no follow-up impeachment hearings for Hyde.
David Jaye
(Honor and Integrity)
FACT:
Senator Jaye was arrested and held in a Florida county jail on charges
he assaulted his fiancee. Turns out this isn't his first run-in with the
law. He has twice served time for drunk driving, and narrowly excaped another
conviction after a witness saw him shoving and kicking his fiancee at a
Michigan gas station. (The arresting officer forgot to read him his Miranda
rights.) So, for the first time in its history, the Michigan State Senate
expelled one of its members. Jaye was forced out of the Senate on a 33-2
vote. He insisted, however, that he was being railroaded for his political
views. "I've upset the political bosses and the special interests,'' he
claimed, dismissing his long record of driving drunk and punching women.
At a hearing to determine the fate of Jaye, one of his constituents suggested
that "Jaye should be expelled; but if he truly believes in saving the taxpayers’
money, he should resign." Of course, Jaye didn't believe in saving taxpayers
money and they had to kick him out
COMMENT:
At least Jaye's behavior is consistent with his party’s line, opposing
state funding for domestic abuse shelters, arguing that they discriminate
by sex. In addition, both Bush and Cheney have been caught driving drunk.
So it must be okay!
Ronald C. Kline
(Honor and Integrity)
FACT:
Judge Ronald Kline, who was appointed by California Republican Governor,
Pete Wilson in 1995, is running for his seat in Irvine, CA, soon. He also
happens to be under house arrest for child molestation and possession of
child pornography.
COMMENT:
You would think his chances of re-election are slim, unfortunately, he
is currently running
unopposed. Congratulations GOP.
Karan Kumar (Stupidity,
Criminal, Honor and Integrity)
FACT:
The New York Times reported that Kumar, a prominent Republican from Nassau
County, NY, had come up with a rather unorthodox solution to a problem
which had been troubling him - namely, articles appearing in local magazines
accusing him of being involved in criminal activity. Kumar decided to fake
his own kidnapping in the hope that his enemies would be investigated.
This plan backfired after Kumar was "released" and discovered by police
in a local park. Unfortunately for Kumar, he couldn't describe any of his
kidnappers. Nor could he explain why they let him go. It was not immediately
obvious why he was wearing different clothes to the ones he was kidnapped
in. And then of course there was the cab driver who told police that he'd
given Mr. Kumar a ride from Queens to the park in which he was found. Karan
Kumar was questioned by the police and admitted to the deception, revealing
that he'd been staying in a motel in Queens watching TV coverage of his
disappearance for two days. He now faces up to two years in jail on two
misdemeanor charges of making a "punishable false written statement."
Edmund Matricardi
III (Criminal, Honor and Integrity)
FACT:
The AP reported that the executive director of the Virginia Republican
Party, Edmund Matricardi III, allegedly tapped illegally into a telephone
call between Democratic Governor Mark Warner, Democratic state legislators
and their lawyers as they plotted strategy in a redistricting case. While
Matricardi refused comment on the case, one prominent Republican gave his
explanation: According to House Speaker S. Vance Wilkins, the most powerful
Republican legislator in the state, "operatives play these games all the
time."
COMMENT:
Obviously, this says something about the Republican practices in the great
state of Virginia. Dare we extrapolate nationwide?
Mike McKinney
(Honor and Integrity)
FACT:
Texas Governor Rick Perry's chief of staff, Mike McKinney, went on a rampage
with a pair of binoculars at Texas A&M's football stadium after a fight
broke out. When Reginald Wallace allegedly attempted to push fans back
into the stands during the melee, McKinney hit him with his binoculars
- but it was literally "one in the eye" foor McKinney after Wallace proceeded
to, um, punch him in the face. McKinney then continued to swing his binoculars
"with full force," attempting to hit people on the field. Then, after the
fight broke up, he threatened to use his "high governmental position" to
get back at local police, according to the Houston Chronicle.
George Ryan (Criminal,
Honor and Dignity)
FACT:
The Governor of Illinois has come under fire for his alleged role in a
campaign-cash-for-favors scheme when he was Illinois Secretary of State.
An official in Ryan's office has admitted that he was given permission
to trade low-digit license plates in exchange for contributions to Ryan's
campaign. And according to the Chicago Sun-Times, one individual told a
grand jury that he gave Ryan $25,000 cash -- money "that went into Ryan's
pocket, not his campaign fund." Federal officials "have obtained a list
of people who hold license plates between 1 and 999, a list that includes
politicians, their relatives and people who often donate money to politicians.
The plates are considered the ultimate sign of clout."
Tom Shortridge
(Honor and Integrity)
FACT: Tom
Shortridge, a South Bay Republican campaign consultant, was given three
years probation last week. His crime? Taking dubious photographs of teenagers.
Shortridge's attorney, Carl "Tony" Capozzola said his client acknowledged
that mistakes were made, but did not believe the photographs of the 15-
and 16-year-old girls were sexual in nature. Which is odd, because the
investigation was started when a girl told police that her 16-year-old
friend was given $100 and a beer to model topless for Shortridge. Apparently
her friend told her that Shortridge had "about 50 pictures of naked girls,"
of the same age group. But of course Shortridge wasn't up to anything fishy.
They were, um... modeling shots... officer. Shortridge could have gone
to prison for six years if he had been convicted of molestation, but he
pleaded "no contest" and was sentenced to apologize to the girls and their
parents, undergo psychiatric counseling, perform 200 hours of community
service, and refrain from contact with girls under 18 unless in the presence
of another adult. His plea bargain (which incredibly reduced three misdemeanors
and a felony to two misdemeanors) also assured that he would not have to
register as a sex offender.
S. Vance Wilkins,
Jr. (Honor and Dignity) 06/2002
FACT:
It was revealed that Virginia's House Speaker S. Vance Wilkins Jr. paid
$100,000 to stave off a sexual harrassment lawsuit. Since then a second
woman has come forward and announced that Wilkins groped her a party six
months ago. So finally, Wilkins has been forced to resign after GOP lawmakers
finally crumbled and called for his job
S. Vance Wilkins,
Jr. (Honor and Dignity) 06/2002
FACT:
The Washington Post reported that the Speaker of the Virginia House of
Delegates paid more than $100,000 to settle a sexual harassment claim filed
by a 26-year-old woman who worked in the same building. The woman alleged
that the 65-year old S. Vance Wilkins, Jr., had sexually accosted her several
times, groping her and pinning her against office furniture. He then tried
to keep her silent by telling her that nobody would possibly believe such
a thing about the Speaker of the House.
Doug Dean, Bob
Beauprez (Honor and Dignity)
FACT:
Doug Dean, the Colorado House Speaker got into some hot water after breaking
into his ex-girlfriend's house with a screwdriver. Last week police released
911 tapes which feature the ex-girlfriend, Gloria Sanak, shouting at the
dispatcher and gasping for breath. Dean claims that he went to the house
to pick up some clothes Sanak left outside for him but discovered she had
not included his cell phone charger. So, he decided to bust out the screwdriver
(that he just happened to have on his person) and break into her house.
Bob Beauprez, state Republican chairman, saw little wrong with this criminal
behavior when he spewed, "He made a mistake and says he made a mistake.
Does it rise to the occasion of being unfit to serve? No."…But lying about
a blowjob does. Right!
COMMENT:
Remember how on his first day in office George W. Bush made all his staffers
promise that they must avoid even any appearance of impropriety if they
were to return honor and integrity to the White House? Well…..
