STUPIDITY:
Summary
AMMO
John Ashcroft
(Stupidity, Taxpayers' Money)
FACT:
Attorney General Ashcroft decided that he was tired of being photographed
in front of the statue of the "Spirit of Justice," in the Great Hall, because
while the female form is clad in a toga, one of her breasts is exposed.
So, he has decided to have the statue, along with its male companion, the
"Majesty of Justice" concealed by curtains at a cost of $8,000 to the taxpayer.
Bush Administration
(Lies, Stupidity, Corporate Interests)
FACT:
"EPA says toxic sludge is good for fish" announced the Washington Times.
Indeed, an EPA document concluded that it is not a "ridiculous possibility"
that toxic sludge "actually protects the fish in that they are not inclined
to bite [fishing lines] ... but they go ahead with their upstream movement
and egg laying."
COMMENT:
Rep. George P. Radanovich, in response to the EPA's conclusion said, "To
suggest that toxic sludge is good for fish because it prevents them from
being caught by man is like suggesting that we club baby seals to death
to prevent them from being eaten by sharks."
Bush Administration
(Lies, Cover up, Scrubbing the record, Stupidity)
FACT:
According to the Washington Post, the White House has been systematically
scrubbing speeches by Bush (and by his staffers) to expunge all of the
made-up words, mangled syntax, and other misstatements and Freudian slips.
For example, Bush asked each American to volunteer "4000 years" (Meant
to say "4000 hours") and called the lieutenant governor of the state by
the incorrect name. But in the official transcript, all mistakes were corrected.
In Knoxville, he got a hard time from some hecklers. Again, no mention
in the transcript. In fact, the official record was edited when he called
for a permanent extension of the estate tax (which he opposes), and it
happened again when he made some bizarre comments about "devaluation" of
the Japanese Yen. Even Ari Fleischer got scrubbed when he said that people
"need to watch what they say."
COMMENT:
Like it or not, what the president says is a matter of historical record.
These scrubbings are not simply corrections of innocent mistakes of grammar.
They are covering up the real George W. Bush (and administration). Often,
his slips are unintentional truth telling from a guilty mind that aches
to spread its toxic thoughts throughout the land. It is these gaffes that
will mark Bush's place in history and for that reason, their erasure from
the record is criminal.
Bush (Lies, Criminal,
Imperiling the lives of others)
FACT:
Bush was arrested for drunk driving in Maine. He kept this secret as long
as he could until he was outed several days before the 2000 election. He
claimed that he kept it secret to protect his children. You know, It’s
all about doing it for the children. Yes these are the same little cherubs
who have been arrested twice in a three month period for underage drinking
and then spotted once again in a Georgetown bar drinking illegally
again
COMMENT:
Let’s remember that this is no laughing matter. Thousands of people are
killed or otherwise have their lives ruined every year by such grossly
negligent and selfish imbeciles as Bush and Cheney. They shouldn’t be allowed
to laugh this off.
George W. Bush
(Aristocracy, Foreign Policy, Stupidity, Nepotism)
FACT:
It is not unusual for an incoming Administration to reward their friends
and big donors with ambassadorships to largely innocuous posts in places
like the Bahamas, Andorra, or Micronesia. But President Bush has a different
idea. According to USA Today, so far Bush has given 22 out of 27 ambassadorships
(81%) to "people with political or personal connections and no diplomatic
experience". He even nominated a former college fraternity brother to be
ambassador to China.
COMMENT:
Sino-U.S. relations are already strained and in need of an experienced
diplomat to mend the wounds. Old frat brothers don't quite make it. So
here is another threat to world stability resting on the pseudo-nepotistic
preferences of an illegitimate president.
George W. Bush
(Stupidity, Easy on crime) 07/2002
FACT:
after declining for the previous nine years, crime is on the increase again
nationwide. In response, Bush is proposing "several reductions in grants
and other assistance to state and local law enforcement agencies, including
an 80 percent drop in funding for the Community Oriented Policing Services
program," according to the Washington Post. I guess since the Rapture is
almost upon us, Righteous George and his buddies might as well give it
a helping hand. GRRR!
George W. Bush
(Stupidity)
FACT:
Bush was on Ellis Island to welcome a group of new immigrants to the United
States, and all went well until it was time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance
"Right hand up please," said Bush, holding up his right hand. As the confused
immigrants cast glances at one another, Bush realized his error. "Actually
right hand on your heart," he mumbled.
COMMENT:
Bush's base in reality was once again in question when he, on another occasion
decided to wave hello to Stevie Wonder.
George W. Bush
(Despicable behavior, Stupidity, Lies)
FACT:
Bush shamelessly claimed that, at the beginning of his administration,
Bush said that he would only break into Social Security in the event of
war, recession, or a national emergency. According to Mitch Daniels, the
budget director, Bush said to him shortly after September 11, "Lucky me.
I hit the trifecta."
COMMENT:
This has been proven to be a despicable lie designed to serve as a cover
up for the surplus that he has squandered and the budget deficits that
he has produced. In reality, Al Gore made these qualifications. Bush made
no qualifications in his promise to avoid deficits. The fact that he would
turn the lie into a joke encompassing the 9/11 disaster speaks volumes
to the complete lack of class that permeates George W. Bush.
Bush (Stupidity,
Lies, Soft on Crime)
FACT:
Bush announced that the Community Policing Services Program (COPS), the
centerpiece of Clinton's 1994 anti-crime initiative, will be cut by 13
percent because the nation's decrease in violent crime cannot be attributed
to the 103,000 extra police officers hired through the program. Violent
crime has declined every year since 1994, when COPS and the Brady Bill
were enacted.
COMMENT:
It seems, however that the COPS program had not hired the 100,000 new police
Bush now says it did.
George W. Bush
(Lies, Despicable behavior, lack of Leadership, Stupidity)
FACT:
According to the UK Guardian, when a child in Florida asked Bush what he
thought after the first plane crash, Bush responded: "There's one terrible
pilot." And then added "It must have been a horrible accident." It's such
a typical conservative reaction, to laugh at the incompetence of the pilot
before lamely acknowledging the suffering of the victims as an irritated
afterthought. Bush also claimed that he learned about the crash by watching
it on TV. "The TV was obviously on", he said just before he started reading
to a bunch of elementary school children, even though published reports
indicate that he got the news by phone from Condoleeza Rice, his National
Security Advisor.
COMMENT:
There is little doubt that the pivotal moment in George W. Bush's presidency,
and probably the most important moment in his entire life, was when two
airplanes collided with the World Trade Center on September 11. His response
is not surprising but it is both saddening and maddening.
Bush (Laziness)
FACT:
Bush takes the first weekend after his swearing in off. No president in
US history will do less actual work in his first year. Bush has spent almost
two months vacationing since inauguration day - and that's not even adding
in the time he's spent at Camp David (14 weekends and counting so far).
Bush's advisers have attempted to spin this as a "Home to the Heartland
Tour" on which, apparently, he will be "working." Toward the end of his
"working" vacation, Bush spent plenty of time telling reporters that he
was "looking forward to getting back to work."
COMMENT:
But, but, but I thought he was working all along, you know…touring the
heartland and such.
George W. Bush
(Stupidity)
FACT:
The New York Post revealed last week that Dubya never leaves home without
a copy of his favorite book of all time, The Very Hungry Caterpillar (go
here and search for "hungry caterpillar" for the story). Laura Bush claimed
two years ago that the book was Dubya's favorite "from childhood," despite
the fact that it was written in 1969, one year after he graduated from
Yale. Anyway, according to the Post, Bush's handlers always have a copy
of the book on hand, and he has been "spotted turning its pages" on trips
to New Orleans, Phoenix, San Diego and elsewhere.
Bush (Unilateralism,
Isolationism, Warmonger, Corporate Interests, Stupidity)
FACT:
The administration refuses to join 123 nations pledged to ban the use and
production of anti-personnel bombs and mines.
COMMENT:
This leaves the door open to stage war on our terms and on the Defense
industry's terms…and on Carlyle group's terms….and thus on Bush Sr.'s terms.
Note that the millions of mines remaining in war torn regions of the world
kill countless civilians and can remain in the ground and active for decades.
The fact that they are hidden, makes for an obviously and excruciatingly
difficult recovery operation, and since they are usually planted in parts
of the world that cannot afford such a clean up effort, they remain.
Bush (Lies, Unilateralism,
Isolationism, Stupidity)
FACT:
After Colin Powell announced that the U. S. will continue to support the
efforts of South and North Korea to hold talks, as the Clinton administration
had done, Bush says we will not support talks because North Korea is not
living up to all its agreements with us. It emerges we have only one agreement
with North Korea, and it has been verified they are holding up their end.
North Korea cancels peace talks in Seoul.
COMMENT:
Bush apparently made this jack-ass move in retaliation for South Korean
premier, Kim Dae Jung publicly supporting the ABM treaty (Which Bush unilaterally
declared dead). Bush knows that peace = no money for defense contracting
buddies. Thus, concludes the lame one, war = profits. Ha, ha, ha! This
is further proof that there is nothing more important in the miniscule
mind of Bush than that which inflates his pockets or his ego. World be
damned.
Orrin Hatch (Intelligence
Leak, Stupidity)
FACT:
When Intelligence Committee member Senator John Edwards was interviewed
on television shortly after September 11, he quite rightly refused to divulge
any classified information - the same position we have seen taken by Colin
Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, and General Hugh Shelton. Unfortunately Hatch,
who was suffering from diarrhea of the mouth, blabbed sensitive information
on television on September 11. Hatch revealed everything he knew about
telephone conversations that had been intercepted between groups linked
to Bin Laden. When pressed on the matter, he said that he got the info
from high-level intelligence sources - who then had to come out the next
day and admit that it was true.
Jesse Helms (Bigotry,
Stupidity)
FACT:
On AIDS: "We've got to have some common sense about a disease transmitted
by people deliberately engaging in unnatural acts."
Jesse Helms (Bigotry,
Stupidity)
FACT:
Quote from a brainiac, "The New York Times and The Washington Post are
both infested with homosexuals..."
Richard Nixon
(Bigotry, Stupidity)
FACT:
After the latest set of Nixon tapes was released. About Drug Policy, Nixon
had this to say: "every one of the bastards that are out for legalizing
marijuana is Jewish. … What is the matter with them? I suppose it is because
most of them are psychiatrists." (?) He also explains that pot is worse
than alcohol because people drink "to have fun," but people smoke marijuana
"to get high. He explains that Archie Bunker's son-in-law Meathead "goes
both ways," and that another TV character is "obviously queer. He wears
an ascot, and so forth."
Oliver North (Religious
Fanatic, Stupidity)
FACT:
Oliver North appeared at Anaheim’s Melodyland Christian Center Church recently
to dutifully explain why radical Muslims hate America. Hint: It's not because
of our freedom, or wealth or even because we want their oil. Nope. It's
because they "know what the scripture tells us, which is that the only
path to God in heaven is through his son, our savior, Jesus Christ." According
to the OC Weekly, North continued, "not all Muslims are evil or hate America."
It's just that they won't be going to heaven. So, in case you missed that,
not all Muslims are evil, but they won't be going to heaven, and that's
why they hate us. They may not be evil but I bet I know someone who is..
COMMENT:
This (lack of) thinking fits well with the loving words of our current
White House resident who personally condemned all Jews to Hell. Good to
see Ollie stickin' to the party line.
Republicans (Flat
Earth Society, Stupidity)
FACT:
The Alabama's State Board of Education recently decided to continue their
policy of placing disclaimers on biology textbooks, voting unanimously
last week to put stickers stating that evolution is a "controversial theory"
on 40,000 new textbooks.
Pat Robertson
(Bigotry, Stupidity)
FACT:
First he informed the world that the attacks on America were all the fault
of gays, atheists, and abortionists. Then he tried to back away from the
statements, saying that his remarks were "inappropriate." But obviously
not inappropriate enough, because Pat has wheeled them out again. On the
"700 Club" recently, Robertson, referring to terrorists, said that, "I
do believe that San Francisco is going to be a target of these people."
Pat Robertson
(Bigotry, Hypocricy, Stupidity, 911)
FACT:
Post 911, Jerry Falwell appeared on Pat Robertson's TV show The 700 Club
and went off on a tirade against all things liberal. According to Falwell,
the disaster occured because God was displeased with feminists, gays, lesbians,
abortionists, pagans, the U.S. courts, the ACLU and the People for the
American Way. "I point the finger in their face and say, you helped this
happen," he announced. For Falwell to even think of making such comments
in the first place is sickening; to make them on behalf of a religion which
is supposed to promote forgiveness, tolerance and compassion is despicable.
To that, Pat Robertson said, "Oh, I agree."
Karl Rove (Lies,
Stupidity)
FACT:
The New York Daily News reported that back in December 2000, Karl Rove
signed his financial disclosure form (which was supposed to "list assets,
positions held and other aspects of Rove's personal finances dating through
at least the last year,") but accidentally forgot to mention one important
item - that he was still president of Karl Rove & Co., the twenty year
old company which made him a multi-millionaire.
Christie Todd
Whitman (Embarrassment)
FACT:
Whitman appear on morning talk shows and announcing that a White House
task force will not recommend drilling in the ANWR. Soon after her appearances
the White House began to distance itself from the comments, with Karl Rove
saying that he was "mystified" as to where her statements might have come
from.
