Never before in the history of the United States of America have we had a President who admits he drank heavily until he was 40, as Bush freely admitted in an interview with Barbara Walters. He claimed he quit “cold turkey”, I believe after his “Born Again” claim.
I rented apartments for many years, and I would never trust an individual whose brain had been subjected to years of liquor consumption. Why would I trust the most powerful political position in the world to a President who admitted publicly he was a heavy drinker until he was 40?
Has the nation gone stark raving mad to try to tell us that there is no one but this former booze hound to lead us out of the darkness he created in the invasion and occupation of Iraq? The people of Iraq haven’t fallen for his failings. Why should the voters of the U.S. be blinded by party loyalty?
With the Bush Administration subjecting future generations to the greatest national debt in our history, with an administration whose hands are laden with bribes from the pharmaceutical companies, who have joined together with our elected congressmen to consider it a crime to order cheaper drugs from Canada. What on earth is making the citizenry vote against their freedom to obtain drugs at the cheaper prices available all over the world?
Why would they vote for an Administration that confiscates their taxes collected for Social Security and divert those funds to pay for tax cuts for wealthy citizens who don’t need the money? Why tolerate the attempt to control one-third of the oil that lies in Iraq under the propaganda guise of bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East? Has the pollution plaguing our major cities done this to American minds?
There must be a reason. Have the soaring home prices blinded people to the reality that this inflation in housing costs is making a mockery of sound economics? Demolishing the currency value through handing senior citizens less than the inflation rate for their long-term CD rates, thus making the lowest rate for housing loans available in 45 years, has created a distortion of sound economic values.
Yes, we know that George W. Bush received a Masters in Business Administration at Harvard, but we are also aware that he was the class joke that rode in on a legacy form of affirmative action. You recall affirmative action, which is what Bush and Clarence Thomas would like to see abolished after profiting from it.
The young people of today are being asked to look to the future plans Bush has prepared for them – plans where housing costs are many times higher than wages. Must an American citizen learn Chinese or some other language to qualify for an outsourced job?
Maybe the people South of the Border who are working for overpaid CEO’s will eventually strike over their puny wages of $1.75 an hour! And lest we forget, Labor Secretary Elaine Chao is helping big business with her “no overtime” rules.
Let us also remember Colin Powell and his laundry list of “forged documents” that he put together as his own Dracula film to frighten us into going to war in Iraq. Isn’t it strange how the Republicans and their crew of media robots didn’t make an issue of those documents? Instead they seek to convince us in their shrill and strident voices that Dan Rather must go! Did the memos in question publicized by CBS send anyone to war? Did they result in any deaths? Maybe former Enron lobbyist Ed Gillespie can explain that one to us.
Leading the howling parade of those seeking Rather’s scalp is none other than Rush Limbaugh, drug addict and chicken hawk. Remember, Rush is the one who gave up his old job as a bed pan commando at a California hospital to dish out more of the same, but in far greater masses and at a vastly higher pay scale.
Oh, Rush remains bullish about Vietnam. Why didn’t he go? Well, there was that anal cyst problem, and that kept him away. Strange, but his father had the identical condition and it didn’t prevent him from serving in World War Two. Of course, we all know that different standards are applied when speaking of the tin gods of the far right.
