Word on the Ground in New Mexico
10/31/04

Reports on the Ground in New Mexico seem to be consistent with what I'm hearing from Ohio, Florida and Iowa.

In New Mexico... we registered 119,000 new voters and less than 20,000 were Republicans. Many were pissed off voters.

...I have never seen Dem HQ as busy as it is now. Our early voting is leading the Repubs in the top 5 counties. In Santa Fe we are 6:1 and in 2000 we were 1:1.

I listen to Doug Stephan Radio in the mornings and he loved Bush in 2000 based on him being from a farm state like Texas. Well Bush cut the farm subsidies and would not give the spokespersons an audience in his first year and Stephan got pissed.

Just like Don Imus and Howard Stern have also turned; now all three are against him and they have 15 million listeners.

527's are busier than heck here.

It is about time people realized what a liar Bush is. I am a Christian and I can't trust the man. I wish other Christians would stop worshiping Bush like he is God or something. The bible warns us against this type of idolatry.

Posted by: ClarkiesVote04Kerry at October 31, 2004 06:39 PM

I am also a Christian, and agree completely with the other Christian who wrote about how many Christians have been taken in by Bush's, IMO, phoney Christianity. I've read about Bush going from quoting the Bible one moment to talking about how he was going to F over his opponents in the next breath. Would Jesus behave like that?

Jesus taught that true Christians should not flaunt, or use, their faith to gain the admiration of other people. Jesus said that God much prefers the Christians who pray in private, as oppsed to doing so in public to impress others.

Of course, that doesn't mean not going to church or having fellowship with other Christians. It means not using your faith to, in this case, win votes. Kerry is also a Christian, as have been probably all of our nation's presidents. Why are so many Christians taken in by Bush's "brand" of Christianity? I honestly don't understand.

Jesus also said, by their fruits you will know them, refering to people who claim to be Christians.

Well, all we have to do is look at Bush, and we can clearly see what "fruits" he has borne. Christians should not allow themselves to be taken in by wolves in sheeps clothing, and IMO, that is exactly what Bush is.

Fellow Christians, please think long and hard, and pray for guidance, before making your vote this year. This election is so important, and will set the course of this country for years to come.

I VOTE MY VALUES. War, torture, greed and deception are not my values.

Posted by: m soltys at October 31, 2004 11:52 PM

I am a Christian as well and I think Bush is very close to the anti-christ as he has deceived so many through his lies. I talked to another Christian who is a strong supporter of Bush that all he thought of the anti-abortion stand of Bush and that is why he was voting for him. I asked him how he could support that and also support the deaths of 50,000 Iraqi women and children in the Iraqi war. Needless to say, he got mad.
I just don't understand.

I'm a Christian! The Bible says as you live, so you will be judged. G.W.is a walking, talking HYPOCRITE. Watch him closely, he "turns it on and off", depending on the crowd. From his childhood days, to the present.

Posted by: Rivertree at November 1, 2004 03:16 AM

I follow a Christ that hasn't done so well as yours. His God left him hanging. His delusions left us with a false concept of God. But his example is in his integrity. There is no path to God except absolute truth. It is for us to raise our Christ. And now George Bush has assumed his role and made the lie his icon. The charge is heresy, and the punishment should be the usual. Show no mercy to the false prophet. He leads you to your doom.

Posted by: david ayers at November 1, 2004 03:46 AM

In my West Michigan area it is usually not popular to be a Democrat. But now I see neighbors and other Republicans coming to their senses and realizing tha Bush is not a Republican in the sense of being conservative. Even our former Republican Governor, William G. Milliken, has endorsed Sen. Kerry. The Grand Rapids Press, as expected, endorsed Bush, but with many reservations. The Detroit News, which has never endorsed a Democrat this year made no endorsement. I see a tidal movement in progress, one that will stand conventional wisdom and all the polls on end. It will usher in a new era of truth and faith in government by a Kerry/Edwards administration.

Posted by: Jack Eilar at November 1, 2004 04:01 AM

The power of the right wing press is awesome. They take a desterter like Bush and make him look strong. 9/11 happens on his watch and they make him strong on terrorism. He cost us 1100 american lives and 100,000 Iraqi lives to overthrow a old dictator that is not a threat to US or the world and then make Bush a hero. Here is a question. "What is the differance between Viet Nam and Iraq?" Bush had a plan to get out of Viet Nam.

Right to Life or Pro Life in the G.O.P.

These people are hiding behind a mask of Christianity to perpetrate their war crimes. I guess I’m old fashioned or something. I can’t for the life of me understand what’s being passed off as Christianity these days. We have a President who claims to be Christian, that God talks to him, and says he is against abortion…real Pro Life stuff. Sounds good. He lies about going to war…oh well he’s Pro Life. He is responsible for 9-11. It happened on his watch… oh well it doesn’t matter he believes like we do.

He is responsible for over 1,064 U.S. Military deaths and over 7,000 wounded. Hey that’s okay he’s a stand up guy. Hey he believes in Pro Life. What the Hell. Besides - those soldiers probably come from low income families anyway…right. Just think when these poor bastards get home you can thumb your noses at them and call them baby killers…like your parents and grandparents did when I came home from my war.

Conservative (I hate that word) estimates put Iraqi civilian deaths at over 10,000. Some say it’s as high as 30,000. I bet most of them believed in Pro Life too. One thing you can take to the bank is that Bush & Cheney will never tell you the exact number. The only numbers in Iraq that they care about are how many barrels they got out today.

By supporting this administration in their quest for oil in the Caspian Sea Basin and in the Persian Gulf so you can run around in your 6 to 8 mpg S.U.V.’s makes me sick. Don’t you understand that Bush doesn’t give a rat’s ass about your Christian beliefs? You are strictly a means to an end. He doesn’t care about abortion or he wouldn’t be killing all those babies in Iraq. They have lied to us all. I hope I’m not the only one old fashioned enough to see through this. Vote Kerry on Nov. 2nd and send the Anti Christ into retirement. You decide which one it is Bush or Cheney. Which ever one you choose, you’ll be right…for a change.

P.S. Didn’t one of your demagogues say that you control the Republican Party?

Bush & Company can't leave a moment too soon. He has failed upwards all his life, never accomplishing anything, always being bailed out by daddy's friends.

He thinks it is all about him, and isn't even capable of imagining the lives of any of his fellow citizens. Has he ever done his own laundry? Worried about how to pay the dentist when he had a toothache? No, and he doesn't even want to try to understand.

The day is coming, the day we take our country back . . . the day W GOES HOME!

Sorry folks as far as I can see all this religious discussion in connection with public secular policies is a direct result of the distortions being perpetrated by a leadership intent on imposing their religion on the country. What's their religion? Easy they worship money and power. Let's have a little objectivity and look at the results of their policies( dead soldiers sneaked into the country at night- see Italy or Britain- they honor their war dead, explosive weapons now used to kill them lost in the initial stages of the war, huge deficits, poverty rising, healthcare becoming a privilege of the wealthy, abortion on the rise in the last three years). See what I mean, look at results and never mind religion, that's a private issue between a person and god.

Posted by: laurie at November 1, 2004 12:23 PM

During the 2000 Election Campaign I saw a t-shirt which fits perfectly, it said: "The Christian Right is Neither Christian nor Right."

I've been studying the Bible for many years and have had many good teachers. None of them (and some are fundamentally conservative) would sermonize or individually tell you to vote for Bush because he is a "Christian".

Actually, one poster mentioned Bush being like the "anti-Christ". I'm not sure about that. But, he definitely is like a Pharisee, all for show--for the crowd. He acts like a "Christian" on the outside, but bears no fruit because on the inside he's a fraud.

Ain't no shame in being pro jewish anti zionist for a free palestine, 67 borders, no settlements, no occupation.

Why is it OK for Israel to have WMD's?

There are 2,000 nuclear WMD's under Albuquerque.

You can put this Democratic baby (Kerry/Edwards) in an American flag, send it to the White House, and send Bush rollling toward Texas like the tumbleweed that he is.

Posted by: Big Daddy at November 1, 2004 06:00 PM

Being a Christian, I find it very hard to look into Bush's eyes -- there is nothing to them, no soul. I believe this is why he is such a good liar; I am sad to think other Christians have been hoodwinked by this evil, self-serving, greedy man. I am so sorry for those whos lives he has destroyed in our own country and abroad -- and I pray for all of them that he will be voted out of office.

The momment Bush stole the 2000 election in the way he did, is the momment everyone should have stood up and said, "no... you can't do that." His lack of honesty was apparent at that decisive moment and for our other elected officials to have fallen for his lies after that was naive to say the least. Congress needs to stand up to him and say, "no more."
