Despite the correctness of the 2000 Election exit polls that showed Gore winning Florida, this year the networks are likely to wait before calling a state for either candidate.
"With memories of their botched calls in the 2000 presidential race still embarrassingly fresh, the major news networks say they are under increased pressure to get it right when they declare a winner tonight," the New York Times reports.
"Officials at every major news network said they were instructing their anchors and analysts to avoid declaring a result in any state where they are uncertain about the outcome, no matter what others have reported."

I learned last night on an interview from The Daily Show that FOX has a desk with four people on it that all need to confer before announcing a winner per state. It'll come in later. I always thought that the states should be called after the polls close West Coast. Hawaii and Alaska may be influenced but that's it.
