Barbara Bush, speaking about survivors of Huricane Katrina:
"Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston."
Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."
Oh yes, Babs; they've lost their homes, everything they owned, friends, familiy members, been traumatized... thank
goodness Hurricane Katrina combined with your son's criminal negligence and gave them the opportunity to visit Houston as refugees. I'm sure Texas hospitality played a
huge role in their declarations; the fact that most of their state will be uninhabitable for a year or more had not the
slightest bearing.
And you're right: It is "scary" that they want to settle in Texas, because Texas has so many poor people already. No doubt you and your friends have more than enough servants for your summer homes; there's only so much oblige your noblesse can satisfy, and these greedy opportunists will simply have to accept that.
But you shouldn't have said what you said publicly; one of them might try to strangle you with your own string of pearls, and that would be a ridiculously undignified way to die.
