In a perfect world every Bush supporter would be required by law to read Frank Rick of the New York Times. Of course, in a perfect world there would be no need for such a law, because a president by the name of George W. Bush would not exist for supporters to support. As a nation we’d be far too civically virtuous to ever put such a clown in any public office, let alone the Oval one.
Nevertheless we are stuck with Mr. Bush for another three grueling years, thanks to the founding fathers having never anticipated this magnitude of incompetence and thus providing no constitutional prescription for curing it midcourse - unless, it almost goes without saying, there is high-crime evidence of that highest crime, oral sex.
So here we are, helpless in watching the agony of executive incompetence take its toll with virtual impunity. And to my mind, Frank Rich is the keenest observer of the toll taken, the best commentator on the reality behind the constructed Bush image, and in general the most eloquent of the swelling ranks of Bush-bashers.
