An interview of George W. Bush by Charles Gibson of ABC’s “Good Morning America” that aired on Monday and Tuesday has Bush siding with gay civil unions if a state wishes to enact those laws. So Bush now supports Vermont’s law that legalized same sex civil unions. In fact when pressed on the issue Bush said that he did not support the Republican Party platform that opposed civil unions. He believes that states should have the right to pass laws that “enable people to have rights like others.”
