The "War on Terror" has apparently been so successful that our terror-targeting super powers are now free to train themselves on a new, more hideous evil than ever before -- good chess players...no, no...REALLY good chess players. In fact, maybe the best ever. This is no joke people. my sources suggest that the the color-coded terror alert was heightened on at least 3 occassions due to the possibility of... IMMINENT CHESS.

As President Bush continues to fight terror with terror to kill terrorists, it has become clear that being a dictator is a lot more preferable than being president.

In a cover piece for the New Republic, Peter Beinart incorrectly equates the liberal dilemma today on how to deliver a convincing anti-terrorist message with that after World War II on how to deliver a strong anti-Communist message.

The other day, John Ashcroft continued a series of outrageous claims, this time asserting that "the Bush administration had made the nation more secure from terrorist attacks and violent criminals."

The kidnapping of Margaret Hassan, Director of CARE International is inexplicable. Why would the Iraqi resistance kidnap a woman who has provided humanitarian assistance to the people of Iraq for 25 years? Could her kidnapping be part of a counterinsurgency operation, orchestrated by Mossad, devised to turn world opinion against the Iraqi resistance?
10/30/04 :: By Tom Ball BREAKING NEWS: Bin Laden Alive and Well and Spreading Terrorist Propaganda While Bush has Our Troops Locked up in IraqCategories :: Election 2004 :: Terrorism
Until now, everyone I associate with, on the left and the right felt quite sincerely that Osama Bin Laden had been turned to dust by some daisy cutter in the Afghan desert. Surprise. Bin Laden lives, and he felt compelled to appeal to the American population just days before the election. So what is the effect on the election?
10/12/04 :: By Delton Murphy Muslim Until Proven InnocentCategories :: Discrimination :: Patriot Act :: Terrorism
Many Muslims today realize that it is their American citizenship, not their Islamic identity that is tenuous. Prior to 9/11, Muslims in America were primarily focused on changing United States policy toward Palestine, Kashmir and Iraq. But since that time the effort to reconstitute their identities as American Muslims is making domestic relations, civil rights and interfaith relations much more important.

It's difficult to begin to heal the deep-seated wounds of 9/11 with Osama Bin Laden still at-large. As someone who lost a friend during the World Trade Center attacks, the capture of Saddam Hussein and the assassination of his sons along with over 11,000 Iraqi civilians and countless Afghanis, didn’t make me feel any better nor did it bring me any closure.
09/16/04 :: By Drew Johnston The State of Things, or This Post Is Not About the Killian MemoCategories :: Terrorism
Before I write a post, I read through several major blogs to see if there’s anything worth writing about. If there’s a noteworthy story, I take 30 minutes and write an angle on it. The problem with this strategy became clear today, when I realized that if I followed it, I’d end up writing about the damn Memogate story. You know what? I don’t care. The blogosphere spent the last week arguing over whether or not a typewriter could produce the memo, and for that we should all be ashamed, left and right alike. I don’t care, and by the looks of things, no one else cares either.
09/15/04 :: By Stu Finkel Putin's Power PlayCategories :: Terrorism
The first substantial reforms Vladimir Putin plans to introduce after the recent horrific terrorist attacks in Russia, in particular the gut-wrenching massacre of schoolchildren in Beslan, North Ossetia, include abolishing the popular election of regional governors and the voting of Duma (parliamentary) deputies strictly by Party rather than on an individual basis.
09/02/04 :: By Stu Finkel Postcard from Moscow: Terror in RussiaCategories :: Terrorism
The lengthening list of horrific events that have occurred in Russia over the past several days: the downing of two domestic airliners; the suicide bomber at a metro station; and now the hostage taking at a Russian school in North Ossetia make clear that Russia is involved in a constant war on terror in a much more literal sense than we are. The once invincible Putin is in an incredible bind in trying to deal with the situation.

The Bush Administration has come under fire for issuing a security warning and elevating the security warning code based on three-year old information. According to the Bush Administration the information became more credible when the information related to these possible targets (financial institutions such as Citigroup, Prudential, and Wall Street in New York City) was found on the computer disks of the Al Queda communications specialist, Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan, a 25-year-old Pakistani computer engineer who was arrested by Pakistani authorities on July 13.
08/01/04 :: By Bob Kendall "They would have waved Osama bin Laden in."Categories :: Terrorism
The above comment was made by an investigator referring to the fuel farm at Miami International Airport in the July 22 edition of the Miami-Herald. The shocking disclosure related that, just as long as bin Laden was driving a company fuel truck, he would have been welcomed inside. He could have passed freely into a supposedly “secure airport area” where jet fuel by the millions of gallons is stored for the purpose of stealing jet fuel and selling it. The conspiracy was to steal, sell, and make tons of money for the well-organized gang involved. Whatever happened to the much-vaunted Homeland Security Act, which was supposed to protect us all from foreign terrorists? Wasn’t there any thought of how to protect Miami-International Airport from home-grown thieves?
06/23/04 :: By Tom Ball Administration Lied About Successes in the War on TerrorCategories :: Bush Administration :: Lies :: Terrorism
On April 28, 2004, the State Department announced that newly available figures on global terrorism had declined dramatically. Senior administration officials touted the findings as evidence of Bush's success in countering terrorism. Problem is, the figures were completely wrong.
